Feb 9th, 2017

Munich-based World Sales company Global Screen has picked up international rights to JULIAN SCHNABEL – A PRIVATE PORTRAIT, a mesmerizing portrait of one of the leading artists of our time and his friends and fellow travellers.

The documentary shows exclusive footage from Julian Schnabel’s personal archive and features Al Pacino, Hector Babenco, Laurie Anderson, Jeff Koons and Bono, among others. With his extroverted life style, the Venetian palace in Manhattan and larger-than-life large figure, the public appearances in a silk pyjama, Schnabel seems to reinstitute the cult of the bohemian lifestyle in art, standing for excess and hedonism.

Alice Buquoy, Senior Sales and Acquisitions Manager at Global Screen states, “This highly visual documentary is made for the world market, it is entertaining and revealing and we are very pleased to present it to our distributors. With Rome based Good Films we have one great distributor on board already. A U.S. sale is expected imminently.”

Documentary director Pappi Corsicato, says “The film is an intimate portrait about the enfant terrible of the art scene and last but not least one of the world's most famous artists.”

The film is is produced by Riccardo Scamarcio, Valeria Golino and Viola Prestieri and written by helmer and executive producer Pappi Corsicato. Global Screen will start selling the film at EFM.
