Has inspector Batic changed sides for mysterious reasons? Is he involved in the death of a narcotics cop? His buddy Leitmayr doesn't understand what's going on at all, and neither does Batic: He's lost his memory?

A stroke of fate throws detective inspector Batic off track: One morning he finds himself on the outskirts of Munich, and can't remember a thing. He has no idea how he got there, what he's doing there, or even who he is. His partner Leitmayr can't believe his old friend doesn't recognize him. When the young female narcotics cop the veteran detective inspector spent the last night with is found dead in her apartment, a desperate struggle to regain Batic's lost memory ensues. Seemingly all by himself, unable to trust his friend Leitmayr, Batic sets out to discover his identity and the truth about what happened that fatal evening. At the same time, Leitmayr fights to prove his buddy's innocence. But the weight of the evidence only grows heavier: Was Batic involved in criminal double-dealing after all? Traumatic scenes from his past come to light?
