The National Park High Tatra in Slovakia (3/12)

Tatra National Park is situated in the north-east of the Slovakian Republic. Part of the mountain range extends into Polish territory; there, too, it has the status of a national park. The beautiful landscape with 25 peaks over 2,500 metres attracts flocks of tourists. Parts of the mountain range had to be placed under complete protection. Spring begins in the mountains and valleys of the Tatra when the marmots poke their heads out of the snow for the first time. The brown bears also leave their winter hiding places and roam through the forests. The film describes the developments in the world of flora and fauna in the world's smallest high mountain region from early spring until the beginning of winter.
