The Dardanelles belong to the world's most important water ways and historic sites. Approximately 80,000 ships pass the 65 kilometers long and between 1.5 and 6 kilometers broad sound per year. Numerous myths and legends tell from this stretch of water which separates Europe from Asia. And if one believes Homer's "Ilias" and "Odyssee", also the most famous ancient war took place here: during the 10 years of the Trojan War the Greek tried to conquer Troy, at first to no avail. They did not succeed until they managed to smuggle soldiers into town - hidden in the hollow belly of a wooden horse. The myth of Troy still lives to this day. This documentary tells about the history and the presence of the region around the Dardanelles and the way of life this area's people lead. The viewers get to know how they celebrate, drink and eat. Fishermen get a word just as historians and archeologists.
