The Guardians Of The Birds Of Paradise (220/268)

The people of New Guinea have been always worshipping their birds of paradise, occurring in 38 different species. For Zeth, a man from the mountains in the West as well, the birds of paradise are up to now a part of an inveterate ancestor worship. Seeing though that hunters and wild animal dealers become an ever increasing danger for them he draws a decision which not everybody in his village is willing to accept at once. Zeth's consideration is a simple one: he wants to take people to the secret places in the forests where the villagers have been reverently watching the birds of paradise for generations. He does not think of poachers or dealers though but travellers who come to the remote parts of Indonesia in order to watch these unique birds. Those visitors are intended to pay for their accommodation, food and guidance which results in a financial profit for the village. Its inhabitants though have to first of all comprehend what treasure their forests contain and that it is of value to protect these with all their energy. Will Zeth's plans function?  At least those who will come to his village will get an insight in the life of not less than six different species of birds of paradise.
