The Cape Verde Islands (30/59)

It takes only a few more hours to fly to the Cape Verde Islands than to reach the Canary Islands - yet they used to be just an insiders' tip for quite some time. Only nine of the fifteen Cape Verde islands in the Atlantic Ocean, off the coast of West Africa, are inhabited. Only one of them, however, is really known: Sal. Sal offers amazing beaches to swim and to surf as well as a high number of hotels.

80% of all the visitors coming to the Cape Verde Islands stay on Sal without even going to any of the other isles. Sao Nicolau is the least visited of the Cape Verde Islands up to now. It has a spectacular alpine world which invites to hike and quite some more things to discover which simply is too much to describe on only two catalogue pages.
