The Beavers Of Munich (74/268)

Anyone who takes a walk at night around the German Museum in Munich might catch sight of something really unusual on the moonlit banks of the River Isar: a large rat, a water rat, or a hallucination? Even before one has the chance to peer through the darkness - there is a loud splash and the creature disappears. Yet this was no rat, but an animal that is normally shy and which hardly anyone would expect to find in a big city like Munich: a beaver. Two years have already passed since the beaver settled in the heart of the Bavarian metropolis around the German Museum. Nothing seems to disturb it - neither the drunks who stagger past at night, nor the never-ending traffic almost directly above its head, nor the couples chatting away, only a few metres from its den, on the pebbly bank of the Isar. Yet most people will not discover it anyway, they hurry past and overlook even the quite distinct tracks of a unique big-city animal - the museum beaver.
