The Autumn Of The Red Deer (40/268)

Many people don't know what a red deer looks like - even though it is the largest wild animal species in our forests. And anyone who then connects the red deer with the stag is obviously hardly able to tell the difference from a roe deer. One reason for this is that red deer in this country are extremely shy, for shooting of this species is permitted for up to nine months a year. This is because red deer are regarded as damaging to the forests since particularly in winter they nibble at the bark of trees. Hence they are disliked by farmers and foresters. Unfortunately few people are interested in searching for a solution that would enable this majestic animal to live in peace. Nevertheless, some suggestions have been made.
