Squirrel Wars (150/268)

The Europeans are in "danger", the invaders come from North America: they are cute little climbers, actually distant relatives of those animals which people love to watch in the forests - the squirrels. Over one hundred years ago, some specimens of the "sciurus carolinensis", the North-American grey squirrel, were taken to England. Since then they have reproduced and spread at an amazing rate. The native squirrels were ousted. To make matters worse, the invaders are great forest pests and rivals for the food of the native birds. And it is only a question of time until the first grey squirrel is smuggled - either intentionally or by accident - across the Channel and continues its triumphant invasion through Europe. A second front has now been opened on the French-Italian Mediterranean coast. Here Asian squirrels are threatening the Europeans. The film tells the story of this invasion.
