Saving Poseidon's Children - The Monk Seals of the Mediterranean (243/268)

The monk seals of the Mediterranean have been hunted for centuries, and only very few have survived.  Two monk seal researchers, Panos Dendrinos and Alexandros Karamanlidis have taken up the fight. Together with international conservation organizations, they have set up a breeding station for monk seal orphans and their activities and conservation seminars are constantly raising awareness for the seals' cause.
They travel throughout Greece explaining the plight of the seals and setting up sanctuaries. On the island of Gyaros they make an incredible discovery that may help save these animals which, in Ancient Greece, were known as Poseidon's children.
