Romanias Fortified Biertan Church (22/418)

Founded by the Saxons of Transylvania, in the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains, Biertan has retained its medieval elements which include the church, built in the 16th century, a number of old houses around the central square, and the triple layer fortification system of the church, which is one of the best preserved in Europe and still stands in its original urban context.
