Never Free Again (18/49)

Unassuming loner Markus Rapp is on trial for rape, battery and murder. His most recent victim, young Melanie, survived to testify against him, filing suit along with the sister of another victim.   Inspectors Batic and Leitmayr also testify, after tracking the killer down, compiling the evidence against him and finally arresting him in a brothel in a high-profile bust. But the defendant's attorney is conducting her first case as a court-appointed lawyer and using controversial tactics that drive the homicide cops mad, checkmating them wherever possible. The case begins to attract more and more curiosity-seekers, culminating in a sensational verdict: the defendant goes free. Mocking the confounded cops to their faces, Markus finds refuge with his father, where the angry neighbors try to make life hell for the freed killer. And the inspectors have to start over from scratch again, to try and assemble a watertight case...
