Namibia - The Stories of the San (50/59)

From the Kalahari to the Atlantic coast, we see Africa through the eyes of its oldest surviving culture.

The film journeys through Namibia from the interior of the Kalahari Desert to the Atlantic Ocean, using the narrative of an elder of the San people to show us this land from the perspective of Africa's aboriginal inhabitants. The journey takes us 2,000 km through a country with fascinating, bizarre, sometimes surreal landscapes, and wonderfully diverse fauna and flora.
The San people are, genetically speaking, the last surviving direct relatives of our ancient ancestors and thus allow us a unique insight into the history of human evolution. Now, globalization threatens to completely annihilate their culture. The film is an attempt to present their traditional way of life and their very special world view in a tangible and comprehensible way, while at the same time, drawing a portrait of one of the most beautiful landscapes in all of Africa, that of Namibia.
