Mushing Along - Sled Dogs On Mont Blanc (219/268)

Every year a spectacular race takes place against the majestic backdrop of the Mont Blanc massif. Bavarian, Thomas Hoffmann has been a musher for 25 years and travels with a team of 40 dogs. Adventures in dog sledding: a Bavarian and his 40 dogs prepare for the most spectacular sled dog race in Europe. Thomas Hoffman waits excitedly for the first cold days of October the way some of us look forward to the long hot days of summer. He picks his lead dog, who will run at the very front, and then selects which dogs will take up which positions in the team. Then in the very early morning or late at night, he hitches 16 of his dogs to the training car, which looks like a small Roman chariot, and sets off. Or he takes his quad. Using second gear, he can slow down the enthusiastically wild pack during the 20 kilometre long journeys.
