Lange kamen aus Mosambik nur schlechte Nachrichten nach Europa: Ein jahrelanger, brutaler Bürgerkrieg, Hunger und verheerende Überschwemmungen. Bis heute ist das südostafrikanische Land immer noch eines der ärmsten der Welt - neuerdings aber auch Hoffnungsträger und Vorbild für den afrikanischen Kontinent. Denn Mosambik entwickelt sich zu einem aufstrebenden Ferienziel, ein "Indian Ocean Treasure" mit 2800 km teilweise "paradiesischen" Küsten, wiedergeborenem Wildlife in den alten und neuen Nationalparks sowie spannender Alltagskultur. Der Film von Andreas Lueg ist eine Erlebnisreise in die - bis vor kurzem - tatsächlich noch ferne Welt "Mosambik". In ein Land, das dabei ist, sich von seinen Wunden zu erholen - auch mit Hilfe des Tourismus. Schauplätze sind idyllische Inseln und einsame Sandstrände auf dem Quirimba-Archipel, die wieder auferstandene Kapitale Maputo mit ihrer Mischung aus Kolonialpracht und Plattenbau-Tristesse, lebendiger Latino-Kultur und afrikanischem Alltags-Getümmel. Mit dem Jeep geht es über Abenteuerpisten, die in einen ganz anderen afrikanischen Alltag führen: Landschaften, Dörfer und Kleinstädte, die faszinierende Kultur der Einheimischen hinter dem touristischen Speckgürtel.
