Mahale - In The Thicket Of The Chimpanzees (2/268)

How are the chimpanzees? Why have some of them died yet again? And what was the cause? For biologist Dr. Markus Borner from Frankfurt's Zoological Society it is not easy to find an answer to these questions. It lies hidden in the depths of the absolutely impenetrable mountain forest of Mahale, a National Park in Tansania. The only means of reaching this place is by bush plane, for there are no roads there, no human settlement. Only after days of searching do the researchers find the right trail. Scattered half-eaten fruits and fresh excrement are valuable clues and lead them even further into the forest. And suddenly the search party finds them: crouching closely together in groups, the animals are cleaning each others' gleaming coats, others are squabbling loudly, and some are really ill!
