The Isle of Koh Samui is the dream destination for all Thailand fans. It offers anything one might look for - no matter whether you travel as a backpacker or as a luxury tourist. Koh Samui is Thailand in small and yet it is a world of its own. An island with fantastic beaches, with mountains and millions of coconut trees. On one hand, there are the touristic centers which have been growing in a phenomenal way during the past 20 years and on the other hand, there are the sleepy villages and the tiny capital of the island. Koh Samui is a destination for everybody who is willing to let himself in for a completely different rhythm of life. The savoir vivre in this tropic paradise in Thailand is manifold: relaxing on the beach, driving around the island on a motorbike, looking for the favourite cookshop, strolling around the markets, staying either in luxury hotels or plain huts, discovering the island's center, getting to know the life of the island's inhabitants as well as their culture and taking time for a place the size of which is absolutely manageable - the circular road which leads around the island has a length of only about 50 kilometers. The film pursues the question what living on that island is like, what traditions it has and which feasts the island's people celebrate.
