Between Salerno and the isle of Capri, which with its limestone strata belongs geologically to the Apennine formation of the mainland, there extends a landscape with the most fascinating cliffs in the Italian Mediterranean region. The entire coastal area of the 'Costiera Amalfitana' has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. This coast, so often the inspiration of songs, paintings and poetry, is an ideal destination for travellers from all over the world. Many films were shot here, tearjerkers and masterpieces from Rossellini to Fellini. It seems as if every spot of the "divine coast" has been captured on the silver screen. Yet there are still things to discover here, and the people in southern Campania are still laid-back and hospitable even though their land has been the classic dream destination of many travellers for such a long time.

Zwischen Salerno und der Insel Capri, die mit ihrem Kalkgestein geologisch zur Appenin-Formation des Festlandes gehört, erstreckt sich eine Landschaft mit dem aufregendsten Steilufer des italienischen Mittelmeerraumes. Der gesamte Küstenstrich der 'Costiera Amalfitana' wurde von der Unesco zum Weltkulturerbe erklärt. Viel besungen, oftmals gemalt und bedichtet, ist die Küste Sehnsuchtsziel für Reisende aus aller Welt. Viele Filme wurden hier gedreht, Schmachtfetzen und Meisterwerke von Rossellini bis Fellini. Es scheint so, als wäre jeder Flecken dieser "göttlichen Küste" abgelichtet und auf Leinwand gebannt. Dennoch sind hier immer noch Entdeckungen zu machen und die Menschen hier im südlichen Kampanien sind immer noch gelassen und gastfreundlich, obwohl ihr Land schon so lange das klassische Traumziel vieler Reisender ist.
