Hellabrunn's Polar Bear Twins (245/268)
The Hellabrunn Zoo has welcomed a new generation of polar bears. Within just one hour on December 9, 2013, seven-year old Giovanna gave birth to not one but two male cubs. The baby polar bears are only as large as guinea pigs, weighing in at approx. 400 grams, and are still blind and deaf. The fact that a monitoring camera in the mother and baby house filmed the birth of the bears has caused a mini-sensation: these are the first polar bears in the world, whose births have been filmed in color!
