Habari Serengeti - Wild Land (134/268)

Engai should send rain and protect their land, but Engai, their god, is not listening. The Massai, the native inhabitants of the region around the Serengeti, firmly believe in their natural gods and rites. Now, however, for the first time, they are calling for help from outside for something which Engai cannot do for them: the protection of their land at Lake Natron. It borders directly on the territory of the Serengeti, and the Massai want their region to be protected as well. But they also want to continue living there. At the Ngorongoro Crater the Massai had to move - making way for a nature reserve. They were resettled. Joe Ole Kuwai, chief of the Massai clan, wants to try, together with Markus Borner, to help the indigenous people.
