Shatterhand, still not having his legendary name, is forced to a man-to-man knife-fight with chief Apache Winnetou. In this very moment a group of settlers attack the indian's village. Shatterhand decides to be on the side of the indians and fights shoulder to shoulder with Winnetou. He becomes a friend of the indians. It was Santer, who manipulated the settlers and created this attack. Shatterhand and corrupt Santer can not avoid to keep crossing their ways. A massive "shatter" into Santers face makes Santer fly into a horses watering place. Our hero Charly deservs his nickname for the rest of his life: "Old Shatterhand".
