Gober is Free follows the story of Gober, the orangutan, who after operations to restore her sight, and the birth of twins is about to be returned to her native habitat. There are many questions hanging over the plan; Gober is no longer young and has spent years in a rescue center, her children have never known life in the wild. Will the family be able to cope?

For Gober, an orangutan mother, and her twins, these are critical days. Will the plan to reintroduce them into the wild after years in a rescue center actually work? Since having operations on both of her eyes, Gober can see again, but she's older now. Will she be able to swing through the canopy of the Sumatran rainforest as she once did? With her twins in tow? The four-year old children have only ever known life in a cage. Will they even be able to keep up with their mother as she searches for food? And before that, how will they cope with the long and difficult journey over rough roads, silted slopes and through an unpredictable river? It is an unprecedented undertaking.
