Deception (15/49)

When detective inspectors Batic and Leitmayr investigate the hanging death of a reporter who was profiling a union activist Batic has known since childhood, Leitmayr begins to doubt his partner's objectivity.

Reporter Rainer Truss is found hanged beneath a bridge in Munich. Is his death related to the story he was working on? Truss had an excellent reputation as an investigative journalist who would stop at nothing to expose injustice and corruption, almost obsessively so. Their investigation leads detective inspectors Batic and Leitmayr to a firebrand idealist, union organizer Leo Greedinger, whom Truss was last doing a profile of. Batic has known Greedinger since childhood, when they were close friends, but both had lost sight of each other for years. Leitmayr isn't sure Batic can remain objective on this case for all his joy at finding his long-lost friend. Is he overlooking the fact that Leo Greedinger is about to take a huge step in his career??
