Shatterhand has chosen a favourable place for the track section to build a bridge over the canyon. But to everybodies horror it seems like he has not examined the rocky subsoil. The rock turns out to be brittle and the supporting scaffolding of the bridge caves in. Shatterhand gets fired by the railroadcompany and the new colleague Steele takes on his job. Winnetou and Nscho-tschi are worried about the place to bild the bridge over the canyon. It would pass the holy graveyard of the indians.Winnetou wants to talk to Shatterhand to remind him of his promise not to build the bridge through this place. Nscho-tschi who has always mistrusted the young land surveyor finds out that she gets paid by a competing company to sabotage the construction work. She has soaked the subsoil with acid to make the scaffolding fall down. As Robin Steele refuses to blow up the scaffolding later on, two intermediaries of the rival companany take the job in hand for her.Fortunately, Winnetou and Shatterhand manage to avoid a catastrophe after all.
