The farmers are outraged because several times cattle had been stolen from their grounds.The Muller-Brothers tell that they caught the indians on theft and suddenly all the rage of the farmers is directed against the indians. Nobody believes Old Shatterhand, who is convinced of their innocence. Together with Winnetou he decides to investigate the thefts. Soon they follow a hot trail which leads to Melton and his gang. It is not proved but it looks like as if Melton sold the cattles with faked brandmarks in a different area. Old Shatterhand offers the farmers of the stolen cattles to provide them with longhorn cattles from Texas,which are not very common in this area and therefore unable to sell for thefts. The waggons for the transport of the longhorn cattles will be ready soon and Old Shatterhand offers to guide the train. Melton and his gang became aware of this arrangement.The only possibility to carry on with their lucrative business is to avoid that the longhorn cattles will never reach their final destination. Melton achieves to to get the herd before Winnetou, Sam and Old Shatterhand. But Melton and his gang wont reach far. The beautiful animals were finally driven through the juicy pastures of Timberland Valley before reacching their new owners.
