She's the prototype of the evil stepmother: Little Brother and Sister's new mother is not at all as humble and kind as she pretends to be. No sooner has she won their father's heart and goods, than her true evil comes out. She poisons her new husband.

Her evil daughter, their new stepsister, humiliates them both, finally even going so far as to lock them in the goat pen. The courageous couple manages to escape, but their furious stepmother doesn't give up. Using witchcraft, she turns the boy into a deer. Still, the desperate children stick together, finding a hut in the woods to live in. They live quietly until the king in his castle calls for a hunt. As a deer, Little Borther wants to watch the fun and games, but is chased by the king's hunt. The king follows him to the hut and falls in love with Little Sister. He takes her and her deer back to the castle with him. The king marries the girl, who soon gets pregnant. So the jealous stepmother prepares her next evil deed. Once the child is born, she sneaks into the castle with her daughter, disguised as a nurse. She shoves Little Sister into her steam bath, the evil stepsister takes her place in the king's bed. But the young queen transforms into a dove and flies to her baby. The king doesn't realize what happened. Only when Little Brother exposes the deceit are the two evil women put to justice. The curse is lifted and both Brother and Sister are made human again.
