Bears In The Brenta (122/268)

Holidaymakers know and love the Italian Dolomites. Yet a few months ago something changed in the Brenta. Wild brown bears now live here again. Meanwhile there are nine of these great predators roaming through the nature reserve Parco Adamello Brenta. They were captured in Slovenia, narcotised and resettled in the wild in Italy. Here they live in a beautiful landscape. Yet this is no deserted region - people live here too. The first incidents have already occurred: Gaspar, an adult male, wandered into the city of Trento, causing quite a stir. And Maja has been plundering bee-hives. The Italians are quite laidback about all this, they still get on well with their new neighbours. Some holidaymakers, however, do feel a little uneasy at the thought of rambling in the forests of the Brenta.
