The classic winter holiday is by no means climate-friendly. People usually travel to their destination in their own cars, and in the ski resorts lifts and snow factories use vast amounts of energy and water. 
On its itinerary through the Alps the film team seeks not only glamour, glaciers and mountains. The emphasis is on how to make an environmentally-sound holiday. The journey takes us in a gently mobile and climate-friendly fashion from Lake Geneva to Carinthia in Austria. From the Simplon Pass one can ride with the wind to Italy. The route then takes us via Locarno, the most important place of pilgrimage in Italian-speaking Switzerland, to Grisons. Here the Albula line, one of only three railway lines in the world on UNESCO's World Heritage list, takes the winter sports fans to what must be the most spectacular sleighing track of the Alps.

Über Locarno, den wichtigsten Wallfahrtsort der italienischsprachigen Schweiz, geht es nach Graubünden. Hier bringt die Albulabahn, eine von weltweit drei Bahnstrecken, die auf der Liste des UNESCO-Welterbes stehen, die Wintersportfans auf die wohl spektakulärste Schlittenbahn der Alpen.
