Anna Schneider is running on empty – the young café owner has been suffering constant harassment from an anonymous stalker. Having dealt with dead rats in her café and numerous anonymous calls, she is now plagued by unbearable pain. Even the slightest touch sends it stabbing through her body. The next anonymous call is too much for her: The young woman runs out into the street – and dies. In the postmortem everything points to a sudden heart attack without any suspicious circumstances.

 

But Detectives Gorniak and Winkler are skeptical. That a 29-year-old, otherwise perfectly healthy woman, would simply die like this is suspicious enough for them. They discover what Anna Schneider had been suffering before her death. Detective Karin Gorniak has also been recently dealing with inexplicable pain – and she too is now receiving odd messages from a stranger. Could Anna Schneider have been poisoned? Karin confides in her colleague Leonie Winkler – together they convince their boss, Schnabel to allow them to continue their homicide investigation.

 

As a former boyfriend of the victim, Nils Klotsche quickly comes into the frame. During their relationship, Anna had had a brief affair. As a scientist, who, with his colleague Martha Marczynski, is working on the development of nanobots for cancer research, he would have the expertise to develop a deadly chemical weapon. But would he really be capable of that? Or would the disappointed lover, Lucas Dreesen, have a better motive? Time is running out particularly for Karin Gorniak. She is constantly receiving new messages from the stalker – video messages from her past…
