Nemesis

The murder of a famous Dresden restaurateur leads detectives Gorniak and Hennrichs into the murky world of organized crime, but could the real killer be closer to home and in a much darker place?

After the murder of a famous Dresden restaurateur, detectives Karin Gorniak and Marie Hennrichs find themselves investigating the world of organized crime. Even though such a high-profile murder is not the typical style of the "modern" mafia, there is a growing suspicion that the dead entrepreneur was involved in criminal activity. This line of inquiry is more than promising, particularly for their boss, Schnabel, who knew the dead man personally. But the victim's wife also looks increasingly suspicious as the investigation continues. The facade of the grieving widow starts to crumble, and the detectives find strong evidence linking her to the murder. It seems she has manipulated her children so much that it must have been her youngest son who killed his father. Even though, she plays the loving mother and devoted wife, inside she is tormented by dark demons. When she realizes that Gorniak and Hennrichs are closing in on her, she tries to kill the children and herself. As realization dawns, the horrified detectives must race to rescue the children. But will they get there in time....?
