After the weapons deal with the Ukrainians ends in a complete catastrophe, Alfons Zischl and Sepp Goldhammer are facing problems that are unprecedented even for them. Krauss is now hot on their heels and digging ever deeper into the grim past and no less desperate present. To make matters even worse, mother-in-law Heidi takes perfect advantage of the domestic crisis to definitively drive a wedge between Zischl and Marie. Faced with so many adversaries, Zischl must resort to even more radical methods – and ultimately discovers that even he has ethical constraints that he can’t just ignore.
