Distant Journeys - Peru - Of Goldminers and Miracle Healers

Come with us on an exciting journey along the coast of Peru and discover the unknown treasures of this country. Starting in the south, we meet the gold prospectors, who have to be intoxicated, their senses numbed by coca leaves and schnapps, in order to bear the terrible working conditions in the mines. Not far away, mysterious lines bear witness to an advanced civilization that was established here long before the Incas.
In the unknown north of the country, we visit the city of Chan-Chan, which is built entirely from clay bricks, as well as the grave of the "Lord of Sipán".
From the battle against the prejudices towards the Moche culture notorious for its gruesome practices of human sacrifice, through to the shamanic customs of modern Peruvian life, we follow scientists, healers and locals who permit us an in-depth view into the soul of this country.
