Characteristic of Christian monastic renovation during the Carolingian period, the Convent of Müstair, located in a valley in the centre of les Grisons, contains the greatest series of figurative murals in Switzerland, painted around 800 A.D., along with frescoes and stuccos from Romanesque times.
