The Smartest Turtle in the World
Normal sea turtles are the wild rovers of the high seas. Every year they travel thousands of kilometers. However one male has decided to opt out and settle down ... introducing the smartest turtle in the world.
Sotiris is around 50 years old and is a member of the turtle species Caretta Caretta. Every year, this type of turtle travels the ocean covering many thousands of kilometers. But not Sotiris. This male lives the whole year round in a bay in Zakynthos. After all, why migrate in search of food when you can be fed by fishermen. Using the story of Sotiris, filmmaker Florian Guthknecht looks at the current situation for sea turtles in the Mediterranean.
