A violent criminal walks free when Steier's testimony is called into question, leading the detective to quit the force and seek justice for the young girl who was killed. Instead he discovers that the shooter and his cronies are planning a break-in which also ends with a fatal shooting.
A routine inquiry ends in disaster for Inspector Steier, when a young
girl is fatally injured by a stray bullet. However the perpetrator is
discharged by the court after his lawyer calls Steier's testimony into
question on the basis that he had spent the night before the shooting
drinking in a pub.
Steier is beside himself and turns in his badge,
because "finally he wants to be the hero of his own life". He loads his
gun and follows Nico, the man who fired the fatal shots. At the last
moment he comes to his senses, and then discovers that Nico together
with his brother Robin and their junkie friend Lisa are planning a
break-in. This too ends in disaster when the homeowner returns
unexpectedly and is killed. A neighbor, Rolf Poller, saw the whole thing
and is now in the criminals' cross hairs, as they can't leave any
witnesses alive?
