Police cars chase a speeding Lamborghini through town. When they stop the car, they find Nasir al Yasaf inside, son of the Emir of Kumar, who enjoys diplomatic immunity. And a bleeding corpse on the passenger seat. There's nothing inspectors Bati? and Leitmayr can do...
Beer halls and trendy nightclubs, tradition and cosmopolitanism: These are the polar opposites between which the Munich Scene of the Crime investigators have to solve their cases.
Thanks to his wealth of experience, Croatian Commissioner Ivo Bati? knows all about the margins of society. He tends to explode when faced with racism and discrimination, and sometimes his Southern temperament gets the better of him. Franz Leitmayr, a real Munich native, grew up in modest circumstances. While Bati? tends to charge at his opponents head-on, Leitmayr prefers brain over brawn: two partners, one case, one goal.
A Lamborghini races through town at 200 kph with a corpse on the passenger seat - but the driver has diplomatic immunity. Prince Nasir, economic attaché of the desert state of Kumar, claims innocence and wants to know who killed his half-brother Karim, as well. After a rocky start, the hot-headed Prince takes Inspectors Bati? and Leitmayr into his confidence, and into a world or unimaginable wealth, cultural misunderstandings and sweet temptation. A carpet for the inspector? Out of silk milked from live silkworms! Or would you like to be chief of police in Kumar and earn as much in a month as you do in a year here? The inspectors discover shady arms deals that lead them to powerful local politicians. Bati? and Leitmayr are soon neck-deep in a web of intrigue and murder...
