Rosi has Down's Syndrome. At a highway rest stop, her mother is attacked and brutally beaten, falling into a coma. Witnesses report mother and daughter had a big fight just minutes before the crime was committed. Inspectors Tauber and Obermaier soon realize this is not a case they can crack with their usual methods. They will have to open themselves to Rosi's world and learn to see the world from her perspective. Especially one-armed and uptight inspector Tauber has a hard time understanding the girl: He alternates between pity and pride, demonstrating all the sensitivity of an elephant in a china shop, as they try to get into the girl's mind. The surveillance video at the rest stop is no help, because the crucial moments are mysteriously missing. They discover that 19-year-old Rosi is pregnant, and her mother was on the way to an abortion clinic with her. Rosi refuses to reveal the identity of the father. Her own father, Michael, who is divorced and remarried but still was in touch with his ex-wife and daughter, can't help either. When the investigators manage to reconstruct the missing video sequence, it proves that Rosi must know who the culprit is?
