Art dealer Juliane boards her flight to Malaysia with mixed feelings. The death of her husband Jürgen in a boating accident off the Malaysian coast still haunts her. His body was never found.
On her arrival in Malacca, Juliane catches her husband's former employee Dalina in their house. In despair, the Malay woman admits to stealing several art objects to try and finance a new life for herself and her little daughter. Juliane decides not to report the crime, and in turn gets help from the pretty woman, trying to figure out where several receipts from her husband's business disappeared to. They don't yet realize they're on the tracks of a gang of international art smugglers. Luckily, art trader Mohan, who Juliane met at the airport, agrees to help her. A romantic interest develops between them at the same time. As her investigations lead her deeper and deeper into the murky art world, a terrible suspicion begins to dawn on her: Was Jürgen involved in shady dealings involving large-scale art smuggling? Was he lying to her all these years? Charming gentleman Mohan also seems to know more than he's letting on. Juliane begins to realize she's digging around in a wasp's nest...
