March 13th 2007 was the twentieth anniversary of the death of Professor Bernhard Grzimek, and Bavarian Television has dedicated three films to the popular animal and nature conservationist. They will report on the development of projects initiated by him throughout the world - in Africa, South America and Asia. The Swiss biologist Dr. Markus Borner is one of the nature conservationists who still worked personally with Professor Grzimek. Renowned as the director of Frankfurt Zoo and as President of Frankfurt's Zoological Society, Grzimek fought for decades for the establishment and preservation of animal conservation regions. Together with his son Michael he produced the cinema film "Serengeti Shall Not Die". It is there, in the Serengeti, that Dr. Borner works. Together with Grzimek, he once carried out animal censuses from the air - in the "flying zebra", a single-engine plane painted with zebra stripes. They also travelled together to the Congo to the mountain gorillas and to other African states. The TV team accompanies Dr Borner on a round trip to see what has become of Grzimek's legacy.
