With her feisty ways, country doctor Johanna has overcome the initial suspicion of the country folk and gained their respect and trust. She is now looking forward to a future together with the love of her life, the local vet Laurence. Then Peter, her former boss, comes to visit and tries to persuade Johanna to return to his Research Institute to work on an interesting project. Yet his interests are not only of a professional nature. He misses Johanna and wants her back for good. Laurence is not unaware of this womaniser's advances. Jealous and hurt, he retreats into his shell, and Johanna is suddenly confronted by a difficult decision between her career or her private happiness.
