After the attack, Julia wakes up in the hospital; Nick has disappeared without a trace. When she tells her father about a particular ring that the unknown attacker was wearing, he is shocked. He believes that this is a "Westwall ring", a neo-Nazi emblem and warns Julia that she is in great danger. Julia refuses to go into hiding; she wants to find Nick. Meanwhile, he wakes up in a guest house, injured. Keppler has brought him here for his own safety. At the same time, Karl returns to the sawmill on the old Westwall to report on Nick’s companion and Ira comes up with a plan to find Nick through Julia. In her research, she comes across police academy trainer Roosen and discovers that his daughter is in a psychiatric clinic. She threatens to harm the girl and a distraught Roosen reveals Julia’s name and address. In a panic, the inspector begs Julia to go into hiding abroad. Julia insists that she be allowed say goodbye to her father Wolfgang before she leaves. But Ira anticipates this and has paid Wolfgang a fatal visit.
