Hedge goblin Thornbush rudely pushes his way into Petronella's doctor's office and puts up a severe fight as Petronella tries to throw him out. This power struggle with Thornbush costs Petronella her last ounce of strength – literally, because after the fight she is drained of energy and can no longer cast any spells! Fortunately, witches can recharge their magic with power from a special magic can, but Petronella's can is as good as empty. The only thing strong enough to refill it are loud screams from an angry goblin. But Thornbush refuses to help Petronella and instead delights in the fact that he is the now most powerful creature in the garden! Petronella and her friends take him at his word. They court and praise Thornbush as the garden’s "king", until he is so annoyed that he bursts with rage. Petronella gets her magic back, and Thornbush is glad to be left in peace after all.
