In 1978, hired by the Carvilles after the legal proceedings, Monod discovers that the bracelet in fact was stolen by Pelletier, a hippie who was present the night of the crash. With the aid of her flatmate Nina, Lili escapes police surveillance and goes to Mathilde Carville's to suggest that they both do a DNA test (which didn't exist in 1978 but is now fine-honed).
Bouazi and Martineau, the cops in charge of the Monod enquiry, learn that the body at the detective's home is not his... Lili and Nina meet up with Pelletier who gives the bracelet to Lili, before being shot down before her eyes. For his part, Marc discovers that Nina is, in fact, Hortense Carville. He reveals the information to Chief Inspector Bouazi who knocks him out. Lili's world is falling apart. The DNA test does not reveal any relationship to Mathilde; she is effectively Marc's sister... She leaves the court, climbs over the bridge railing, and throws herself in the Seine.
Based on the best-selling novel “Un avion sans elle” by Michel Bussi
