At the end of Mulholland Drive lies the Motion Picture & Television Fund. Its residents were once the backbone of the Dream Factory: actresses, producers, writers. The spry seniors still burn for movies and entertainment. And so, they share their best personal and professional anecdotes with us.
A touching and lighthearted documentary about the glamourous residents of a very special retirement home, including actress Connie Sawyer (“Dumb and Dumber”, “When Harry Met Sally…”) three-time Emmy® Award nominated producer Joel Rogosin („The Virginian”, “Ironside”, “Magnum, P.I. and and producer Daniel Selznick ("American Grafitti").
"The show must go" is not just the motto on stage, but in the film business, too. Film pros usually work until they drop dead. But what happens those who actually want to retire? One possibility is to spend your Golden Years at the Motion Picture & Television Fund in Woodland Hills in northwest Hollywood. Film giants like Steven Spielberg, George Clooney and Jeffrey Katzenberg help support the old folks' home where retired film pros - from directors to composers, camera men or sound engineers - can spend their twilight years nicely. With their own in-house theater and music rooms, of course, so they can still pursue their passion. They produce short films and pursue other creative projects. “Sunset Over Mulholland Drive” follows one such project from the first brainstorming session all the way to the premiere, revealing enduring dreams and hopes beyond the limelight – and lessons in life and love.
