Chief Inspector Hanns von Meuffels finds himself confronted with a case from his past that soon leads him into a web of intrigue involving a major international money laundering operation.
Chief Inspector Hanns von Meuffels finds himself confronted with a case from his past: after five years in a locked psychiatric ward, Julia Wendt has been discharged. The re-trial of her case is set to start in four weeks’ time. But Julia believes that she is being followed and she feels threatened. She turns to Hanns von Meuffels for help, even though it was he who originally arrested her for an arson attack on her husband and who testified against her in court. She tells a somewhat irritated von Meuffels about a list that she has with the names of wealthy bank customers who have transferred unreported income to Switzerland. Initially von Meuffels stonewalls the woman. Then, in front of his eyes, Julia Wendt is run down by a speeding car. She dies in his arms. Given the secrets that Julia had entrusted him with prior to her death, von Meuffels does not believe it to be an accident. He starts to look into the matter and soon realizes that he himself could be the next victim of this conspiracy. The noose is tightening slowly …
