Having been stood up by his blind date, Doerig sits in the audience of a picturesque circus all by himself. He witnesses the horrifying death of a clown on stage. Coroner Semmelweis' findings after the autopsy of clown Pavel are clear: The clown was poisoned by inhaling ricin applied to his red nose. Investigations uncover a dark secret beneath the romantic surface of circus life. A high speed pursuit through the Jura Mountains unveils the sad truth of the clown's past and his subsequent death.
Having received a mysterious postcard, Luc must ask himself a disconcerting question. Was the macabre mise-en-scène at the art museum involving a baby skeleton targeted at him? Being ridiculed by Anna-Maria and Doerig, Luc turns to Katharina Pulver, the head curator of the museum. She is somewhat smitten with the charming undertaker and invites him to dinner in a romantic Aarau restaurant. Of all people they meet Anna-Maria there, who in turn waits for her own dinner date - Sebastian. Nobody knows that he is the criminal mastermind, responsible for coffin, skeleton and postcard to Luc.
Meanwhile, Fabio is excited, because globetrotter Erika has returned to Switzerland. Now he has an ally in restoring order in the funeral home.
